Federal Skilled Workers - FSW

Under the Federal Skilled Workers Class, foreign nationals can apply for permanent residence and are assessed on a number of eligibility criteria including education, language, experience, age, and other qualifications needed to contribute to the Canadian labour market. To qualify under Federal Skilled Workers Class, the applicant should meet the below minimum requirements:

  • Meet the official language requirements of Canadian Language Benchmark 7 in all the four skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening).
  • Must possess Canadian secondary or post-secondary degree OR must have foreign credential and an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for equivalency.
  • Possess one year of continuous full time paid work experience in the same job within the last 10 years in National Occupation Classification (NOC) 0, A and B occupations. Part-time experience equivalent to one year is also acceptable.
  • Has to provide evidence for sufficient funds to support himself and his family members in Canada. This requirement is relaxed if the primary applicant has a valid job offer from an employer in Canada.
