Canadian Permanent Residence
A Canadian resident is someone who has been granted permanent resident status by the government of Canada. One can apply to become a permanent resident under the various pathways available. At the moment are more than 50 pathways available! Acquiring Canadian permanent resident status brings a foreign national a step closer to becoming a Canadian citizen. A brief summary of the programs are given below.
Economic and Business Immigration
Government have reshaped immigration policy toward the economic pillar, with an emphasis on the selection of the most suitable immigrants who will be able to meet immediate labour market needs. This stream is for the professionals who have the skills to support the Canadian Economy. The planned levels of a permanent immigration for 2021 is 351,000 and 361,000 in 2022.
Family Sponsorship
The goal of family class immigration is to reunited the families in Canada as per Section 12(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). This allows a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to sponsor, on basis of their relationship, the spouse, common-law partner, child, parent or other prescribed family member.
