Canadian Experience Class—CEC

Under the Canadian Experience Class, foreign nationals can apply for permanent residence and are assessed on a number of eligibility criteria including education, language, experience, age, and other qualifications needed to contribute to the Canadian labour market. To qualify under this class, the applicant should meet the below minimum requirements:

  • Meet the official language requirements in all the four skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening). Canadian Language Benchmark 7 for NOC 0 or A jobs or Canadian Language Benchmark 5 for NOC B jobs.
  • Must possess Canadian secondary or post-secondary degree OR completed foreign credential and an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
  • Possess one year of continuous full time paid work experience in the last 3 years in National Occupation Classification (NOC) 0, A and B occupations. Part-time experience equivalent to one year is also acceptable and should have gained this work experience by working in Canada while under temporary resident status with authorization to work.
  • Has to provide evidence for sufficient funds to support himself and his family members in Canada. This requirement is relaxed if the primary applicant has a valid job offer from an employer in Canada.
